About department

Our department is located in Troja at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University in Prague.

The core of our department consists of a team of psychologists and researchers with a diverse range of research interests and professional specializations. These are united by a passionate commitment to active scientific work, involvement in international research networks, and a range of high-quality publications or applied outputs.

Our research spans most major fields of psychology: from social, educational, and developmental psychology, through personality psychology, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and physiological psychology, to evolutionary and comparative psychology. Topics studied include, for example, romantic relationships, sensory perception, literacy development, emotions and nonverbal communication, sexuality, social cognition, learning, thinking, and consciousness.

Researchers at the Department of Psychology and Life Sciences lead or are involved in numerous research projects that focus on topics such as romantic relationships, sensory perception, literacy development, emotions and nonverbal communication, sexuality, social cognition, learning, thinking, and consciousness. Our research methods range from simple online surveys and evaluative experiments to laboratory testing and anamnesis interviews.
